Musée de l'Orangerie

The highlight of our "field trip" today was a visit to l'Orangerie, a small museum at the corner of the Tuileries dedicated to Claude Monet's "Water lily" series. It has two large oval rooms, each containing four enormous paintings of Monet's garden at Giverny. Each painting depicts a distinct time of year or time of day at the garden/ pond. The glass ceiling provides glowing natural light that makes you feel like you are at the gardens. The boys brought their sketch books and colored pencils and did their own rendition of one of the paintings!

Dear Hughes family

This is Ms Cook's class saying hi from York. All the food made Chloe hungry. The Ferris wheel looks like fun and also the mile run a round the Eiffel Tower is super. Michael wants to know if it's cold in Paris. What has been your favorite place in Paris so far, asks Sam and others. Will wants to know how the cheese was and Mrs. Spencer wants to know whether there's "American" cheese in Paris! Your Kings pastries look sooo yummy, we all want to go to the cooking classes with you. So Brooks would like to know what the name of the school is. What different types of food have you had? Sophia and lots of us want to go to visit Paris now that we've seen how wonderful it looks. Brynn and Ms Cook want to know whether you remembered to bring your violin to practice three hours a day? Remember, that practice makes better. :) We're now working on decimals in math class and Ms Cook has been sticking out her tongue when she says the words "tenths"," hundredths", and "thousandths" We had a snow day on Wednesday and we will be in touch again next Friday. Have a wonderful week in Paris. Au Revoir
