New Year's Eve

This is the eve of more than just the new year for us... we depart for Paris tomorrow!

Gabi and I have been working diligently to try to organize for our trip. Two months away from home is a loooong time. We have a suitcase full of sports equipment, a suitcase full of school books, and we have not even packed any clothing yet. Fortunately, everything seems to be coming together for a safe and sane departure.

The boys are very excited, but a little nervous. I think they are also coming to the realization that they will not see their friends for a while. We have been double-stacking the play dates this week so the boys can get their fill of time with their buddies.

Into all this craziness we somehow managed to get through Christmas, a snow storm (17 inches!), and 6 days of no power after an ice storm. December has been a blur.

We will write more upon our arrival in Paris.

Bonne Annee!

Just Under Two Months

Hello everyone,

If you are reading this page, you are probably a family member, colleague, classmate, or friend of the Frost Hill Hughes family. Welcome! We hope that this blog will serve as an online journal of our upcoming sojourn in Europe. All of us will post to the blog: me, Gabi, Malcolm and Dinon. And we plan to share pictures, adventures, and other things we discover during our stay.

So here are the details so far...

We will be based in Paris for the months of January and February of 2009. My work will require me to visit a number of cities in Europe, and the whole family will come along to London and Barcelona.

While in the city of lights, the boys will be home-schooled by Gabi. We are planning to round out the "formal" part of their education in France with french classes, art classes, cooking classes, and soccer camps. But Gabi and I are firm believers in the maxim that you should "not let school get in the way of your education." So their days will be chock full of museums, parks, cafes, and all the city has to offer.

That's it for now... stay tuned for more in the weeks ahead!
